Traumadene is a natural, fast acting,
effective pain relieving gel, whose powerful ingredients have undergone
numerous clinical trials both in vitro and in vivo, presenting outstanding
results in patients with debilitating pain.
- ABSORBED INTO THE BLOOD STREAM WITHIN SECONDS
- HAS AN ANALGESIC EFFECT ON SURFACE SKIN
- DECREASES PAIN IN MINUTES
- REDUCES ARTHRITIC PAIN TO ALMOST NOTHING IN WEEKS
- PROMOTES CONNECTIVE TISSUE HEALING
- PENETRATES CELLULAR MEMBRANES
- ANTI INFLAMMATORY
- ANTI OXIDANT
The original properties of Thiols were discovered in Russia in 1860’s.
The discovery was only fully recognized a hundred years later when the compound was utilized
as an effective trans-dermal delivery system for pharmaceutical drugs, negating the need for
hypodermic applicators.
Due to its’ fast acting delivery system, the South African apartheid government, utilized
this mechanism to
develop ways of administering toxins and poisons en masse in a rioting crowd situation.
It was never known if this plan was ever implemented.
During the Truth and Reconciliation commission, the research into this plot was
made public and Phend Medical recognized that this rapid organic delivery system
was the future to delivering pain alleviating compounds directly to the site
of injury.
After testing 73 plant extracts, five were identified as having the correct percentage
of bioactive compounds that, in conjunction with the organic delivery system could induce
nitric oxide inhibition from macrophages and would prove beneficial in inflammatory related
diseases. In addition the extracts also presented anti oxidants such as tocopherols, ascorbic
acid, carotenoids and flavonoids, which are known to have free radical scavenging properties.
PATIENT INFORMATION LEAFLET
TRADE NAME Traumadene
DESCRIPTION Traumadene contains hygroscopic organic compounds and natural plant extracts.
It is a white cream gel with a faint scent of peppermint.
Traumadene is rapidly absorbed through the skin into the blood
stream
and readily penetrates cellular membranes presenting the
plant extracts and the ether compound directly into the cell.
ACTIONS Traumadene has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and analgesic activities.
MECHANISM OF ACTION
of Traumadene is in two stages. Firstly it has demonstrated
its’ ability to rapidly penetrate the skin
and cellular membranes. The secondary action shows a reduction
in inflammatory activity
due to effective inhibition of NO release by macrophages
and antioxidant activity by neutralizing oxidized molecules
in
the body, particularly the joints. Relief of pain is
experienced by inhibiting transmission of pain messages by
C-type nerve
fibres.
PHARMACOKINETICS Traumadene is readily and rapidly absorbed following administration
by all routes and distributed throughout the body. It is metabolized
in part by oxidation to methylsulfonylmethane and by
reduction
to dimethylsulfide. These metabolites are excreted
in
the urine and faeces.
INDICATIONS Traumadene is indicated for pain relief of connective tissue diseases
such as tendonitis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis
and back
ache muscle spasms and injuries including sprains,
bruising and sports injuries.
RESEARCH SUMMARY In a multi-centre, placebo-controlled study, 157 patients with
acute tenopathies were randomized to treatment with Traumadene
gel applied three
times daily or gel placebo for 14 days. Treatment
in all cases started within 72 hours after onset of acute
symptoms.
Pain
and mobility were significantly improved in the
Traumadene group, beginning as early as three days after onset
of treatment. After 14 days, 44% of Traumadene subjects
were
pain
free, compared
with 9% of placebo subjects.
Traumadene is readily absorbed through skin, and relieves musculoskeletal
pain when applied topically to painful areas. We studied
the effects
on C-type nerve fibres, which mediate pain sensation.
C fibre conduction velocity was slowed, even in low concentrations
(5-7% v/v). Higher concentrations completely blocked
C fibre
conduction, with a minimum blocking concentration
of
9%. Onset of nerve block was almost immediate with 15%
or higher concentrations.
C fibre blockade may account for analgesia with
Traumadene.
Double-blind and other controlled studies have found the gel effective for pain
relief in osteoarthritis of the knee and helpful for
symptoms of acute reflex sympathetic dystrophy.
Traumadene ultimately has an effect on pain and inflammation in both inflammatory
and non-inflammatory types of arthritis. It has also
proven effective when applied topically, with effects
lasting up to
six hours
CONTRAINDICATIONS None known.
PRECAUTIONS The
safety of Traumadene has not been established in pregnancy
and lactation, nor in minors and therefore should be avoided..
ADVERSE REACTIONS Localized dermatitis.
INTERACTIONS NSAID drugs derived from sulfinylindene may decrease the
pharmacologic effects of Traumadene and visa versa.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION Administer directly or in the general area of the area
of pain when required. In acute conditions, apply 4 times
daily when
required.
The roll on applicator may be used as a massager in areas
of muscle spasm.
