How to make ESSIAC TEA

To make 1 Litre (34 Fl oz) you will need:

  • 3 Litre (±1 gal) Stainless steel pot
  • 1.5 Litre(±0.5 gal) Stainless steel pot
  • Stainless steel double strainer
  • Stainless steel funnel
  • 1 Ltr glass jar or bottle
  • Stainless steel spatula
  • 1 Litre purified or potable water. No tap water, no distilled water, Spring water acceptable as long as there is no sodium content.
  • Digital scale
  • 3% Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide


  • Ensure all pots, tools, bottles and caps are throughly sterilized using the hydrogen peroxide
  • Measure 10g of Essiac herbal formula
  • Bring 1 litre of water to a rollong boil. Keep the lid on
  • Stir in 10g of herbal formula. Replace lid and allow to boil for 10 minutes
  • Turn off stove. Scrape dow sides of the pot with the spatula and stir mixture thoroughly.Replace lid
  • Allow pot to stand (with lid on) for 12 hours. Turn stove on and re-heat mixture. Do not allow to boil.
  • Turn off stove. Strain liquid into 1.5 ltr pot.
  • Using the funnel, pour hot liquid into bottles immediately and tighten caps. Allow bottle to cool and re-tighten caps.
  • Refigerate.
  • Essiac herbs are light and heat sensitive so it is important to store in a cool, dark place (Not in the fridge).
    Refrigerate the tea. Essiac contains no preservatives. If mold should develop, discard immediately.
    Some sediment at the bottom of jars/bottles is quite usual and acceptable.
