FORMULA GTi SPECIFICATIONS

 

Cars: The cars are single-seat, open-wheel vehicles powered by 2000cc VW Golf engines developing 150 horsepower at 6200 RPM, and propelling the cars in excess of 150 miles per hour.
ENGINE: 2000cc VW Golf, four-cylinder, single overhead cam, producing 150 horsepower at 6200 RPM. Four-speed, quick-change HEWLAND racing transmission and Twin Weber 40mm carburetors
CHASSIS:

Primary manufacturers are SWIFT and RAY. Tubular space frame, flat bottom with roll hoop and energy absorbing nose box.

BODYWORK: Aerodynamic moulded panels with quick release fasteners.
WHEELS: 13-inch diameter 4-stud wheels of aluminum or light alloy construction, are fitted front and rear. Maximum front wheel width is six inches. Rear wheels may be no more than eight inches wide.
TYRES: Silverstone racing slicks, and wet weather tyres are used by all teams. Teams must race on the same tires they qualify on.
BREAKS:

Four-wheel discs with front-to-rear bias adjustable from the cockpit, as track conditions warrant.

SUSPENTION: Fully independent front and rear with adjustable sway bars and shocks. Newer models generally have pushrod suspension.
WEIGHT: Cars must weigh at least 550kg/s, including driver, as qualified or raced.
FUEL: All cars must use 102 Octane rated fuel as supplied.
