2005 Rotax JNR Max
2005 ROTAX JNR MAX Brittany began in the
Rotax Junior Max Karting series in 2005. After 6 months of racing,
with her height becoming an issue, she moved up to the Senior
Max class. Although Brittany’s parents were behind her all the
way, they still believed that school was important and insisted
that she complete her international school leaving certificate.
Because of this, Britt managed to race for three months, but took
off the last three months of the year to study. She passed her
Cambridge O-levels with four distinctions.
2006 ROTAX DD2 The new gear shift
DD-2 class only attracts the top racing drivers from around the
country. Britt drove against national and international champions.
This was serious racing with the best drivers the sport had to
offer. Brittany was one of only two female drivers in the world
to drive the DD-2 class because of its extreme physical requirements.
Regardless of this, Brittany believes, “If you want to be the
best you have to compete against the best.”

As the new racing season began, Britt moved to the PCR kart racing
team. In March she tested a Formula Vee, she knew it was the right
time to move onto the main circuit. In October Brittany travelled
Lime Rock in Connecticut, USA to compete in the Skip Barber 3-day
course. Brittany finished first and qualified for the shoot out
in January 2008.
2008
In January 2008, Brittany returned to
Sebring in Florida, USA for the final Skip Barber shoot out. Being
one of only five females and the only South African was a great
accomplishment.
Britt was leading the Formula GTI championship
in RSA until her last race when her engine blew pushing her down
to 5th place overall.
